Structural Engineer
BE (Hons), MEngNZ
Josh grew up in the outdoors on Waiheke Island, immersed in the ocean, mangroves, bush and swamps, where he found a deep connection with nature. Raised on a small sheep and cattle farm with a forestry and sawmill operation he gained experience with the land and an understanding of the impacts, and the energy required to provide the resources for food and construction. Following a call from the mountains, Josh swapped island life for endless winter as a snowboard coach at Ruapehu and the northern hemisphere.
Now based in Wānaka with a Bachelor of Engineering, 12 years engineering consulting and 5 years building experience behind him, Josh brings a depth of technical knowledge and practical experience to Markplan. With a strong connection to land and people, Josh thrives on helping others develop their projects while mitigating the impacts on critical earth systems.
Along with diligent, practical and considered structural engineering skills, Josh is a Certified Passive House Designer and has knowledge in energy modelling, thermal performance, environmental impacts, planetary accounting and the safety of building materials.
Out of the office you will find Josh on a bike, building something in the backyard, or jumping into a cool river or lake somewhere in beautiful Te Waipounamu.
