Mitch joined our team in 2009 as a graduate engineer, after graduating from the University of Auckland with his BE, then took a year’s sabbatical in 2010/2011 to travel before returning to Markplan. Born in the Waikato but raised in West Auckland, he now lives out west with his wife, Holly, and young children April and Benji. Always interested in buildings and the way they work, and having grown up carrying a hammer for his dad who is a builder, moving into structural engineering was a natural career path.
Mitch says that starting as a graduate engineer at Markplan was great for his career, as it is a good environment to learn in and one where high levels of responsibility are given quickly. Having become a Chartered Professional Engineer in 2014, Mitch is now a Senior Structural Engineer at Markplan, a position where he is now able to coach and support younger engineers in the same way he was.
