Civil 3D provides a connected 3D design environment for civil engineering and land development work. It helps our team model site conditions, test design options, and produce coordinated drawings and information for consent and construction.
Civil 3D Level of Service
The level of development (LOD) defines how much detail is included in the drawings and model. We tailor the LOD to suit the project stage, coordination needs, and intended use of the information. A lower LOD does not mean lower quality - it provides the right level of detail without adding unnecessary modelling time or cost.
LOD100 – Concept and sketch design
Schematic layouts and standard details used to communicate the early design approach. Information may not be drawn to scale and is intended for concept development rather than construction set-out.
LOD200 – 2D design documentation
AutoCAD drawings showing items such as drainage overlays and service set-out. Information is documented in 2D, without a coordinated surface model.
LOD300 – Coordinated 3D civil model
A Civil 3D model suitable for surveyor set-out, with key levels and public services coordinated in 3D. Kerbs are typically represented by key levels such as the top and bottom of kerb rather than being fully modelled.
LOD350–400 – Detailed 3D civil model
A more detailed model for coordination and set-out. Additional features may include the kerb edge and back, seal levels, and the bottom of drainage channels, depending on the project requirements.
