Chris Steven is a Chartered Structural Engineer with more than a decade of experience delivering practical, innovative solutions across a diverse range of projects. Born and raised in Auckland, Chris graduated with Honours in Structural Engineering from the University of Auckland and achieved Chartered Professional Engineer status in 2010.
After beginning his career in Auckland, Chris embarked on his overseas experience, relocating to London where he worked as a structural engineer on a variety of projects while also fulfilling a lifelong passion for travel. The international exposure broadened his technical expertise and gave him valuable insight into different engineering approaches and construction practices.
Recognising the unique lifestyle opportunities New Zealand offers, Chris returned to Auckland with his wife to establish roots, build a career, and raise a family. Today, he is a proud father of three children and values the balance between professional achievement and family life.
Chris joined Markplan Consulting because of its collaborative culture and shared commitment to delivering outstanding client outcomes. He thrives on the diverse challenges that engineering presents and especially enjoys projects that require creative thinking, problem-solving, and innovative design solutions. His practical approach, combined with strong technical knowledge, enables him to develop solutions that are both effective and constructible.
Outside of work, Chris enjoys spending time with family and friends, fishing, and maintaining the family property in Kumeū. Whether on-site, in the office, or outdoors, he brings the same enthusiasm, dedication, and down-to-earth approach that clients and colleagues have come to value.
